About the Speaker
Repped at Gersh as a producer and screenwriter, Angela Marie Hutchinson has thrived in the entertainment industry for over 15 years in film, television, new media, and publishing. She has worked or Warner Bros. Television, MGM and the GRAMMYs. Currently, Angela has a development deal with a major production company for a game show. Recently, Angela served as a showrunner and director of a new comedy series that released in November on Facebook Watch on @Larray's IGTV. In March 2021, the talk show that Angela created and sold to Facebook Watch aired its 6 episodes for season one of “Asking for a Friend,” a talk show hosted by Vanessa Simmons. In 2020, Angela was hired to write the new original holiday movie, “A Christmas for Mary,” which aired through January 2021 on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

Prior to Angela’s recent accolades, her first narrative feature film that she wrote and produced, “Hollywood Chaos,” also starring Simmons is currently airing on NBCUniversal’s Peacock. She also produced and directed the PBS documentary, H.U.S.H. Additionally, Angela serves as an adjunct social media professor at Loyola Marymount University. Her popular TEDx Talk, “Create Your Own Yes, When You Keep Hearing No,” landed her a mainstream book deal in 2019 with Sourcebooks. The audio book version of “Create Your Yes!” was released by Penguin Random House Audio in March 2021. As the founder of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, BReaKiNG iNTo HoLLyWooD, Angela has been helping entertainment professionals pursue their careers since 2005. She is also a former talent agent and casting director where she cast celebrities such as Lynn Whitfield, Vanessa Williams and Tyler Lepley. As the former Editor-in-Chief of Hollywood & Vine, Managing Editor of Valley Lawyer, and Editor of Diversity Careers in Engineering and IT, Angela has written and edited over 200 magazine articles.

Originally from Chicago, Angela graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in Industrial & Operations Engineering. She also earned a Cross-Media Journalism Certificate from USC. Angela serves an the advisory board member for several organizations. She is passionate about women's empowerment, diversity, youth and her faith. Angela is recipient of a Media Trailblazer Award with recognition certificates from US Congress, LA mayor, and LA city council. Angela has also appeared on BBC World News, CBS News, NPR and FOX13. In her leisure time, she enjoys rollerblading, trampolining, and exploring new parks. Angela resides in Los Angeles with her rocket scientist husband of 18 years and their three young children. Angela's fav drinks are drip coffee and tropical green tea.
